By Theodore Jason Patrick K. Ortiz A TOTAL of 5,000 netizens have signed a petition for the United Nations to reject the appointment of TV host Teodoro “Teddyboy” Locsin Jr as the Philippine ambassador to the international organization. In an online petition platform charge.org, Jov Quio from Ireland plead with UN to deny Locsin’s appointment, calling him a “racist” after his “blatant justification” of President Rodrigo Duterte’s “anti-Semitic lingo.” Quio added that Locsin clearly showed his “prejudice against the Jewish people.”
As of posting last October 2, the online petition addressed to the UN Protocol and Liaison Service and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon garnered 5,000 supporters which was its aim. One comment on the petition said Locsin was “morally bankrupt to be holding such a position.” “His arrogance towards constructive feedback and public opinion makes him unfit for public service and he is thoroughly unworthy of being an example for the youth and people who aspire to uplift the level of decency in our society,” netizen Bernardo Bernardo said. Another comment said “our President is already an embarrassment. We do not want to add to it. They (UN) might think Filipinos are like them (Locsin and Duterte).” Locsin’s appointment was confirmed by Duterte last September 18. He recently started a word war on his Twitter account after he responded to Inquirer.net’s tweet about Sen. Leila de Lima’s comment on warrantless arrest. “Ah, shut the fuck up you fat bitch. GMA had a TRO from the Supreme Court and you spat on it,” he said on his tweet last Monday. Locsin also launched curses at his bashers regarding his then deleted tweet supporting Duterte’s controversial statement on the Holocaust. E See some of the TV host’s tweets below. Locsin has been recently known to respond to netizens’ comments against him.
