Edera The De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers survived the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws, 83-78, to claim their first win in the UAAP Season 79 men's basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, Wednesday night. FEU managed to dig out of a 16-point hole and tied it to 74 but fell short when they lost Reymar Jose and Axel Iñigo in the court due to cramps. Green Archers captain Jeron Teng delivered a game high of 28 points and 6 rebounds, building a 16-point lead in the second half.
After serving a one year suspension and a two year residency, Cameroonian talent Ben Mbala hammered 13 points, with 23 rebounds and four blocks. Rookie Aljun Melecio also sparked 10 points and two steals in his debut game. Tamaraws Ron Dennison, Jose Trinidad, and Monbert Arong finished with 13, 12, and 11 points, respectively. Prince Orizu and Wendell Comboy also carried FEU with 10 points apiece, with Orizu grabbing 10 rebounds. Jojo Trinidad scored 12 points with three assists while Monbert Arong had 11 points and 5 boards. E
