Edera ROOKIE RAFFY Verano led the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Blue Eagles against the National University (NU) Bulldogs with a career high of 20 points on an 8-of-13 shooting, 65-50, in the second round of the UAAP Season 79 basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday.
The rookie emerged for Ateneo as they pick up their second consecutive victory securing solo third in the standings with a 6-4 slate.

UST recovered and discharged 16 points to cut the deficit to nine with 69-60 within the last three minutes of the game, but still fell short due to continuous free throws fired by NU. By Erma R. Maroon’s Jett Manuel nailed a crucial jumper from the foul line to break a 69-all with a minute remaining, 71-69. After a few empty possessions for both teams, Manuel was fouled with 26.9 seconds left and hit two more free throws to make it a two-possession game. By Erma R. FEU managed to dig out of a 16-point hole and tied it to 74 but fell short when they lost Reymar Jose and Axel Iñigo in the court due to cramps. |
